QC o KC, abreviaturas de Queen's o King's Counsel, es el título que se les da a los abogados de más alto rango en el Reino Unido. Los letrados denominados barristers (o advocates en Escocia) que hayan practicado la abogacía durante al menos diez años pueden solicitar este título al Lord Chancellor, quien a su vez los recomienda a la Corona para su designación. El discurso se retransmite por radio y televisión y es preparado por el gobierno, ya que en él se indican las directrices del programa de gobierno para el curso que comienza, así como la nueva legislación que se introducirá ese año.
